Fallout from Black Lives Matter protests continues.
An order had been issued this past summer against the Seattle Police Department, demanding that they cease the “indiscriminate” use of crowd control weapons against protestors. This past week, U.S. District Court Judge Richard Jones found the Seattle Police Department in contempt of that order after police actions at a number of demonstrations in the fall.
Judge Jones did find that SPD force was indeed necessary at four of the many demonstrations submitted as evidence, writing as much in the 27-page order accompanying the decision. The judge refused to convict individual officers for the instances of excessive force, instead holding the entire department liable for concerning responses.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God’s justice and peace would be present in federal courts.
- For divine comfort and judgment in the midst of U.S. police forces.
- That President Trump would have endurance as he leads us through social upheaval.
